What to put in a quote
- Your business name, ABN and contact details (and licence number if your trade needs one).
- The customer’s name and the job address.
- A clear description of the work, with quantities and prices.
- Whether prices include GST.
- How long the quote is valid, and what happens if extra work comes up.
A clear quote avoids arguments later and makes you look more professional than the bloke who sent a price in a text.
Common questions
Is a quote legally binding?
Once a customer accepts a quote, it can form a contract. Some trades and states have extra rules for written contracts above certain amounts, so check with your licensing body.
Should my quote include GST?
If you’re registered for GST, show it clearly. Tick the GST box and the template adds 10% and shows it separately.
Is anything I type saved?
No. Everything stays in your browser and is gone when you close the page. Save a PDF if you want to keep a copy.
