We screed floors so water runs to the drain, not towards the doorway. Ask any tiler how they set their falls before they quote.
Membranes applied to the Australian Standard for wet areas (AS 3740), with a certificate handed to you at the end. Keep it with your house papers.
We fill the shower base and leave it for 24 hours before a single tile goes down. If the level drops, we find out now, not in three years.
Natural stone is sealed before and after grouting, so grout pigment and everyday spills can’t soak in and stain it.
Flexible sealant at every change of plane (wall to floor, wall to wall), so nothing cracks as the house moves through Adelaide’s hot summers and cold nights.

How it works: area = floor + (wall run × height) − openings. Wastage uses typical rules of thumb: straight about 10%, offset 10–12%, diagonal about 15%, herringbone 15–20%, plus a little extra for stone. Adhesive is shown at a typical 4–6 kg per m² for a 10 mm notch trowel; large tiles and stone often need more. Stone batches vary, so keep a spare box for future repairs. We always measure on site before ordering.
Based on the general properties of each material, not a guarantee. Marble, travertine and limestone are calcium-based, so acids like lemon juice and vinegar can etch them, and they need sealing. Stone-look porcelain has very low water absorption and no sealing. Photos are illustrative. Come and see real slabs at the studio before you decide.
A guide only, not an inspection. Signs outside the shower (on skirting, frames or the room below) usually point to water getting past the tiles, which is why they score highest. Don’t ignore them: hidden water can damage timber framing. Waterproofing of domestic wet areas is covered by the National Construction Code and Australian Standard AS 3740. In South Australia you can check a builder’s licence with Consumer and Business Services.
The waterproofing is a flexible membrane painted or rolled onto the floor and walls under the tiles. Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own; grout is porous, and water gets through it every shower. The membrane is what stops that water reaching the timber, plaster and concrete behind.
Polished stone is glossy and shows off the veining, but it’s slippery when wet and shows etch marks. Great for walls and vanity splashbacks. Honed stone is smooth and matte, softer on the eye, hides etching better and has more grip. It’s the usual choice for bathroom and living floors. For showers and wet floors, ask about the slip rating of the finish you like.

Not if it’s chosen and sealed properly. Marble has been used in bathrooms for centuries. It will etch if acids touch it, so we usually suggest honed marble on floors and polished on walls, and we seal it twice. If you want zero upkeep, we’ll tell you honestly and show you stone-look porcelain.
You don’t have to, but most people are glad they did. Stone varies slab to slab, and seeing it in person is the best way to avoid disappointment. Visits are by appointment, Tuesday to Saturday.
Yes. We’ll check them before we start: batch numbers, shade, flatness and quantity, so there are no surprises halfway through a wall.
It depends on the size and the stone, and we’ll give you a timeline with your quote. Waterproofing needs time to cure and we flood test for 24 hours before tiling, so we never promise a two-day bathroom.
Two slabs or tiles cut side by side from the same block are opened like a book, so the veining mirrors across the join. It’s what makes a feature wall look like one continuous piece of stone.
No. Restoration is a big part of what we do: re-grouting, resealing, honing out etch marks and replacing tired silicone. It can make an older stone bathroom look new for a fraction of a rebuild.
Yes, every time. It’s handed to you at the end with care notes for your stone. Keep it with your house papers; buyers and insurers may ask for it.
