How we count: one in each bedroom, plus one in the hallway linking bedrooms to the rest of the house on each storey (or on the likely exit path if a storey has no bedrooms). Your actual layout can need more. Requirements summarised from Queensland's smoke alarm laws: photoelectric (AS 3786-2014), all interconnected, hardwired or sealed 10-year battery, and under 10 years old. LEDs also last far longer: typically 15,000 to 25,000+ hours, compared with around 2,000 hours for a halogen. That's a lot fewer ladders.

This is a general guide, not an inspection. Safety switches (RCDs) cut the power in a fraction of a second if current leaks to earth, for example through a person. Old fuse boards don't do that. For simple jobs, often yes, especially if you text a photo. For switchboards, rewires and renos we'll come out and look first, then give you a clear written price before anything starts.
We usually book jobs in the same week. We work Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm.
Usually. LEDs use a fraction of the power and last many times longer, and they run much cooler. Our LED calculator above shows roughly what you'd save with your own numbers.
Unplug everything on that circuit and try resetting it. If it holds, plug things back in one at a time to find the culprit. If it trips straight away with nothing plugged in, stop resetting it and give us a call.
Many older boards can't without some work. We check your board and supply first, and tell you honestly whether it needs an upgrade before we fit anything.
All the time. We'll plan power and lighting with you and your builder, do the rough-in, then come back for the fit-off once the plaster's up.
