    Everyday jobs use Hem Line's usual 3 to 5 day turnaround. Formal and bridal lead times are typical guidance for dress alterations in Australia; complex gowns can take longer. Dates skip Sundays.

    Bring on the day

      "Break" is the fold where the hem meets your shoe. These are common style rules of thumb, not rules. We'll pin it on you so you can see it in the mirror before we cut.

        Bring the piece and the shoes you'll wear with it. No appointment needed.

      2. Try on and pin

        Pop into the change room. Kim pins it on you, so you see the length before anything's cut.

      3. Get your ticket

        You'll get a ticket with the price and a pick-up day. Most jobs are ready in 3 to 5 days.

      4. Try it on at pick-up

        Slip it on before you go so we can check the fit together.

      Hem Line has been in the city since 2011. Kim and the team fix around a hundred pieces a week, from a $10 button to a bridesmaid party.

      No appointment needed. Just walk in, try it on and we'll pin it. If you're not sure something can be saved, bring it anyway and we'll give you an honest answer.

      Do I need to book?

      No. Just walk in during opening hours, try it on and we'll pin it. For wedding dresses it helps to text first so Kim can set aside a bit more time.

      How long will it take?

      Most jobs are ready in 3 to 5 days. Formal and bridal pieces need fittings, so use the ready-by planner above to work out when to come in.

      Can you keep the original hem on my jeans?

      Yes. We take the original hem off and put it back on at your new length, so the faded, worn-in look stays. It's $28 on the price list.

      What should I bring?

      The piece, and the shoes you'll wear with it. Shoe height changes where a hem should sit, so heels versus sneakers really matters.

      I need it tomorrow. Can you help?

      Express service is available on most jobs. Ask at the counter, or text us a photo first and we'll tell you if it's doable.

      Can you let something out?

      Usually, if there's enough fabric in the seams. Many garments have a little spare, some have none. We'll check the inside seams and tell you straight away.

      Are your prices fixed?

      The price list is a guide. We confirm the price when we pin it, before any work starts, and it's written on your ticket.

      Do you fix things other than clothes?

      Zips on bags and jackets, patches and small repairs are fine. If you're unsure, bring it in and ask.
