What we’d think about
Assumes a WELS 3-star shower (up to 9 L/min) and roughly 50 L of hot water per person per day. Continuous flow sizes are the common 16, 20, 26 and 32 L/min models. Heights are common starting points, not rules. We set final heights with you on site to suit your fixtures and your family. In Victoria, a licensed plumber must give you a compliance certificate for plumbing work over $750. See the Victorian Building Authority. Plumbing products must be WaterMark certified.

When do I need my tapware chosen?
Before rough-in. Wall mixers and in-wall cisterns have bodies that go inside the wall, and every brand is a little different. If we know the exact model, the handle lands exactly where you want it once the tiles are on.
Can I buy my own tapware online?
Usually, yes. It needs to be WaterMark certified for use in Australia, and ideally WELS rated. Send us the model before you buy and we’ll check it suits your water pressure and wall depth.
Do you work with my builder and tiler?
All the time. Most of our bathrooms are with builders and tilers we already know, but we’re happy to slot into your team. We share rough-in photos so everyone knows where the pipes are.
Will I get a compliance certificate?
Yes, on every job. In Victoria it’s required for plumbing work over $750, but we issue one regardless so you have a record of what was done.
Can you move the toilet or laundry?
Often, yes. On a timber floor it’s usually simple. On a concrete slab it means cutting the slab for the new waste, which adds time. We’ll tell you what’s involved at the site visit.
Should I replace gas hot water with a heat pump?
It depends on your household, your roof space and whether you have solar. Heat pumps use a fraction of the energy of an electric tank, and Victoria has offered rebates for them. Try the hot water sizer above, then we’ll talk it through.
How long will I be without a bathroom?
Our part is two short visits: rough-in, then fit-off after tiling. The waterproofing and tiling in between is usually the longest stretch. Ask your builder for the full timeline and we’ll fit around it.
How hot will the water be at the tap?
For new bathroom work, hot water to the shower and basin is limited to 50°C with a tempering valve to help prevent scalds. Your storage tank still heats to 60°C or more to keep it hygienic.
